The Columbus Developmental Center, which serves a population that ranges from high-functioning to severely disabled people, has asked us to perform as part of their Country Hoedown themed party, which celebrates Columbus' Community Care Day. We'll do a 30-minute to an hour show depending on how many folks sign up, and it will include an audience participation segment.
They have a parade at 3 p.m., but I thought that was too soon for us to get there. We'll perform about 5 p.m. instead. We'll be bringing our floor and setting it up in the asphalt parking lot next to the center's shelter house. The entire event is outdoors barring rain, so plan on wearing team T-shirts and black pants/capris/shorts. Sign up soon or say no by July 20 so I can tell them yea or nay.
Directions from the director, Mike Snow: "Our location is at 1601 West Broad Street, Columbus. However, it is difficult to find just looking for the address. The best way to get here is off of the on ramp to 70 East on the west side of town. You can also get here from what appears to be our main entrance off of Sullivant. From Sullivant the address would be 1800. If outside we will be at the shelter house. The inside contingency would be our gymnasium. Basically a normal size gym with a tile floor."
It's also my birthday!
I am checking my schedule at work to be sure, I would have to take off around 3, but would not have time to get Montana unless I take the whole day off.
I'm going to try. It will largely depend on how busy I am at work that week and if I can skip out a little early. It shouldn't take me too long to get there from work.
