Event Description

One of our new dancers, Sally, has asked if we would like to perform at the "Junk Boat Race" she puts on out near London, OH. Basically people make boats out of junk and race them.....fun times! We'll perform after the race, which begins at 4:45, and after they talk to all the entrants (or at least introduce them and hand out awards). This is a late request, but if we get enough folks, we'll do it. As a thank you for performing, Sally will take us out on her boat on the lake and serve up pizza. Even if we don't do it this year, we'll put it on the schedule for sure in 2010....same Sunday before Labor Day. We'll only do 3-4 numbers, then we get to play. Sally's boat can only hold 12, so the first 10 to sign up get on the boat! The rest of us older than 21 can go to the bar....or to the ice cream shop.....if there is one.....I'm just guessing. Please sign up for this no later than Aug. 29. I want YES or NO......no "maybes" allowed. The actual performance will start around 5:30ish. Nothing concrete, so get there no later than 5 if you don't want to watch the race.

Comment by Sally Lane on September 1, 2009 at 1:21am: Directions to Lake Choctaw: West on I-70 from Columbus to exit #72 (Route 56). Turn Right (North) on 56, and right again at the first cross street (Old Columbus Road - it comes up quickly). Immediately after the Marathon Station, turn left into Choctaw Lake Community. Turn right after passing the guard shack onto Chickasaw Drive. Follow Chickasaw until it makes a pretty sharp curve to the left. Before the curve, veer slightly right, and follow that road past the lodge to the beach where the boat race will be held. The only thing that would cause the boat race to be canceled would be electrical storms. We have raced in wind, rain, and cold. If the race were to be canceled, I'd say the clogging performance would be even more welcome. See you at the beach around 4:30 or 5:00!
