UDPATE!!!: OUR TWO EXHIBITIONS WILL BE 11:30-Noon at Activity Center Park with parking at Incarnation Parish Center off State Route 48 and Williamsburg Lane and 1:30-2:30 at Routsong Funeral Home (dancers will be golf-carted to the second exhibition if needed).
This is Centerville/Washington Township's July 4 celebration, which draws a crowd of 75,000 throughout the day (Centerville is near Dayton). They would like us to participate in the mile-long, 90-minute parade if we so wish, but we would need to be there by 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. parade start. If you're going to this event, let me know ASAP this is something you would or would not want to do. The parade is the highlight event of the day apparently with 120 groups/floats/bands in the parade. The pics of the parade on the Web site (www.americanafestival.org) are pretty amazing. The festival runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., then it shifts to the high school stadium for entertainment beginning at 8:30 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m. Let me know in the comments below if you want to make a full day of this complete with fireworks. I'm going to charge them a performance fee so we can recoup some of our expenses (gas for the drivers and food while we're there). The festival provides water for performers and parking. If we give them a car count, they can reserve spaces for us in the performers' parking lot, so let's see if we can carpool. The organization just sent me an email confirming our participation and asking about our parade availability, so please RSVP soon.
