We always have fun on this trip to gorgeous Brown County (the leaves change this time of year for a splendid view), though we do get up at the crack of dawn to make the drive out there on Saturday. We'll stay over Saturday and come back Sunday late afternoon. It's always fun to walk around the shops in Nashville, and we can't miss out eating breakfast at the restaurant with THE best oatmeal you've ever had!
The workshop itself, which runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with a fun dance and exhibitions from 5:30-7 p.m., features Jeff Driggs, Deiter Brown, Scott Dobson and Naomi Fleetwood-Pyle....a great crop to learn from. Looks like this year they also will be teaching country line dancing and have a 30-minute bluegrass concert after the workshop. We can exhibition something here if you guys like (maybe Smooth Criminal if we have it done and lookin' good).
Hotels include Brown County Inn (812.988.2291), Seasons Inn (812.988.2284) or Salt Creek Inn (812.988.7888). Reserve early since rooms sell out fast. In the past we ended up staying 15 minutes away because the hotels were cheaper, but I'll go with the flow. Entry is $25 if registered before Oct. 15; $30 at the door. Spectators are $5, syllabus is $5 and video cameras are $10 to register.
Directions: Take I-70 to Indianapolis, then 670 South to I-65 South. Exit the Columbus/Nashville exit (State Route 46 West) and drive into Nashville. The convention center is on the right before getting into town.
